Caol Primary wanted digital technology that would enable children to develop their computational thinking independently. They went for Dash and Dot Robots and Blue-Bot which are both available through TTS here.
How has the technology enhanced learning and teaching within your school/department?
Promote computational thinking through development of ability to analyse problems and design algorithms to program remote controlled toys.
Develop skills through creating and debugging simple programs.
Provided opportunities for all staff and children to develop skills, confidence and knowledge.
Staff have taken initiative to extend children’s interest and encouraged them to challenge each other as they develop their programming skills.
Any tips for other schools looking to do a similar project?
Ensure children have sufficient time to explore the devices and the software. Apps are more manageable when using tablets as they are more manageable for small children to control.
